Bay Area Bluegrass Association Cancels Remaining 2026 Bluegrass Shows

Effectively immediately, Bay Area Bluegrass Association announces cancellation of the remainder of its 2026 bluegrass shows, from October-December.
The association’s history of hosting shows and festivals spans 40 years, with the mission to promote the legacy and future of bluegrass music in the greater Houston area.
Volunteers provide the backbone to put on the shows. Funds from donors and members of the association have supported the three-hour shows that attract regional bluegrass talent.
Current president Randy Powell says the association will change direction as the current schedule of supporting monthly bluegrass shows is no longer sustainable.
“This is not the end of our organization, rather a reconfiguration as we reimagine our future,” Powell said. “I want to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the years.”
Powell is encouraging bluegrass enthusiasts to become active in the reorganization of the nonprofit group that has left a rich bluegrass legacy in Texas. Throughout the greater Houston area, bluegrass jams promoted by the organization continue to bring together accomplished and amateur acoustic bluegrass musicians.
“Your ideas or suggestions are integral to the success of our future, and we ask you to be involved,” Powell said.
Volunteers interested in brainstorming and/or contributing to the reorganization of Bay Area Bluegrass Association should use the Bay Area Bluegrass Association Facebook page, as this will continue to be monitored at this time.
